Oilfield water-treatment reference for produced water pam pilot orders: calculate the trial quantity

A produced-water PAM pilot order should contain enough material to establish a meaningful result without committing the buyer to a bulk supply decision. The required quantity depends on flow, the planned dose range, operating duration and preparation losses. A supplier's standard sample pack may cover bench screening but remain far too small for a field run.

Use commercial-product units

For water volume in cubic metres and commercial-product dose in milligrams per litre, estimated product kilograms equal volume multiplied by dose divided by one thousand. If the trial dose is stated as active polymer, convert it using the documented active fraction before ordering commercial material. Do not apply the correction twice to a dose already expressed as supplied product.

As an illustration only, a 1,000 cubic metre trial at 3 mg/L of commercial product requires 3 kg before preparation losses or additional test periods. This arithmetic does not recommend a dose for any oilfield water. The trial team must choose the dose range from bench evidence and operating constraints.

Allocate material by trial phase

Separate commissioning, baseline confirmation, controlled dose steps, repeat runs and the final acceptance period. Include the volume held in preparation tanks and lines where it cannot be recovered for use. State which quantities are estimates and which are deliberate contingency. A single unexplained percentage added to the order can hide an unrealistic trial duration.

Discuss sample and pilot quantities with Xinqi Polymer after the candidate grade is identified. Consult the relevant polyacrylamide supply range for product context, but confirm actual pack size and minimum release in the offer.

Check whether the trial can reach steady conditions

Allow time for water and solids to pass through the system before collecting comparative results. Include sludge inventory and return streams where they affect the process. A short trial that ends before those conditions stabilize may generate misleading consumption or capture data even if the product quantity was calculated correctly.

Define the boundary of the purchase

Mark the order as a limited trial release with an exact grade and batch record. State whether unused stock may be retained, returned or used only after approval. Agree responsibility for technical attendance and any additional sampling. The pilot order should buy enough evidence for a decision while keeping routine supply contingent on measured performance, preparation practicality and a documented acceptance review.

Technical checks before the order

Use the existing Produced Water Polymer Dose Calculator: ppm to Gallons per Day guidance to assemble the operating data for this purchase. Include the accepted trial conditions and unresolved questions in your product enquiry, so the proposed supply can be reviewed against the actual facility requirements.
